Traffic Telematics
Our software solutions enable optimal traffic monitoring, analysis, and control. Alongside our customers, we contribute to making traffic safer, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly.
Intelligent Traffic Telematics That Moves You.
Intelligent Traffic Telematics That Moves You.
BitCtrl has been developing software solutions for traffic telematics for many years, including parts of the Unified Traffic Control Center Software for Traffic Management Systems (NERZ e.V.).
Our products and software solutions include DAUZ (Permanent Counting Stations), RWIS (Road Weather Information Systems), and dynamic control of displays in TCS and NIS (Traffic Control Systems and Network Influence Systems).
This is how we optimize the collection, analysis, and control of traffic data in real-time.
Our Products in Action

TCC Software:
Solutions for Traffic Control
The Unified Traffic Control Center (TCC) Software implements central tasks and requirements of modern traffic control. These include road operations management, strategy implementation, construction site coordination, incident handling, and the integration of various mobility services.
Our company has developed large parts of the TCC Software in various projects. The software is available as open source, enabling broad use and further development. Support and development are carried out by the specially founded association NERZ e.V. (Users of the Unified Traffic Control Center Software).
We specialize in the following components:
Reference Projects
TCC Baden-Württemberg
The Regional Council of Tübingen, State Office for Road Technology (LST), is implementing the establishment of a Traffic Information Center (VIZ). This is intended to provide road traffic information services to citizens and establish access to relevant traffic information and data for citizens, companies, and administration.
A73 Erlangen Hard Shoulder Release
The temporary use of the hard shoulder serves to release the shoulder for traffic between the Baiersdorf-Nord and Erlangen-Nord junctions in the direction of Nuremberg, depending on traffic conditions – currently mostly during morning rush hour – to increase capacity.
Aalbek-West Service Area
This project involves equipping the Aalbek-West service area with a display showing available truck parking spaces.
TCS B96n Stralsund
Since October 2007, the Strelasund crossing has connected the island of Rügen with mainland Germany. The over 4 km long construction is considered a technical masterpiece and is at present Germany's longest traffic bridge. To ensure traffic safety combined with optimal flow, the TCS was established, with its traffic and video control center implemented by BitCtrl.
BAB A7/A23-AD HH Northwest Tunnel Lighting Control
The lighting control of the three tunnel systems at the Hamburg Northwest motorway junction ensures optimal tunnel illumination adapted to external light conditions. This is achieved through nine lighting levels, which are divided into night, regular, and pure switching levels. The FlexCtrl 6 process control system is used as the basis for lighting control.
Ramp Metering BAB A6 Kaiserslautern-Einsiedlerhof
In collaboration with Siemens AG, two ramp metering systems were established at the BAB A6 Kaiserslautern-Einsiedlerhof junction.
Substations for Network Control Systems
In the NBA A2 Hannover-West and -East project, we developed and delivered a complete substation with operator workstations. Based on the "Unified Traffic Control Center Software for Traffic Management Systems," we integrated our software units such as an Eclipse-based user interface, KEx extensions, proprietary archive, control algorithms, and data distributor-Oracle coupling.
Live Traffic Video - BAB A7 SH
Processing of live video streams for the traffic information portal of the Ministry of Science, Economy and Transport of Schleswig-Holstein and the State Office for Road Construction and Transport Schleswig-Holstein.
Substations for Toll and Permanent Counting Stations
In 1997, the substation for permanent counting stations of the State of Bavaria was established at the Munich Freimann operations center. Since then, it has been regularly expanded by connecting additional counting stations. The project was implemented based on BitCtrl's own FlexCtrl process control system.
